However, the number of lost or stolen cattle accounts for 10% of the total every year, which means that the annual loss will be as high as 34.7 billion US dollars.


The details that I usually don't care about look very shocking. For the cattle themselves, there may not be a concept of getting lost, but they are grazing everywhere, but for us, it is a huge loss of property.


If the LoRa module is installed on the cow, the location of the cow can be identified, and the farmer can also use the LoRa module to manage the cow more effectively. If the cow is not in the specified area, the manager will send an alarm. The cost of this simple application is very low, but it can greatly reduce the loss of the farmer. Moreover, the cost of LoRa modules and gateways is very low, and it does not cost tens of thousands of yuan to deploy to the entire farm. Then you only need to rent a server to view the collected information from computer terminal equipment. In addition, you need to manually install terminal equipment for the cows. When you finish all this, you will find that your losses will be significantly lower than before.


Cattle in Heat


In dairy farms, lora also has a more interesting application, which is to detect the estrus of dairy cows. It has been proven by well-established biological theories, and well-observed, that when cows are in heat, their body temperature will change, and their steps will be significantly denser. If the cows have no bulls for the whole estrus period, then she will be very depressed and need to inject them with estrogen to put her in estrus again, which alone will lead to a decline in the cow's resistance, easy to get sick, and reduced milk quality. Sensors can detect when a cow is in heat, which has led to an increase in the average insemination success rate from 2.0-2.5 attempts to 1.58, a reduction in the average calving interval from 402 days to 354 days, an increase in female cow birth rates, and an increase in milk production, resulting in a significant increase in dairy farms. The sensors can also detect when a calf is about to give birth, and traditional farmers can only tell which cow is about to give birth by looking. With remote alerts now available, the loss of cows and calves during calving can cost farmers tens of thousands of dollars.


Smart Agriculture


Water and fertilizer are two key factors for crop growth. Too much or too little can degrade yield and quality. Potatoes and cotton are sensitive to overwatering, but strawberries and tomatoes prefer drier soils. Smart IoT irrigation systems offer the ability to monitor and adjust, providing guidance at a glance.


Sensors measure a certain composition in the soil and can tell you how much moisture and fertilizer is in the topsoil, and if the sensors are distributed in the field or in a greenhouse, it can determine the correct time to irrigate while saving water and energy. The problem of palm oil plantations is the thick canopy, and the wireless signal of the cellular network is difficult to penetrate, but LoRa does not have this problem, LoRa has a strong penetration, and applies pest control, using simple trapping that only allows targeted pests to enter The device performs pest control, and when the sensor weight reaches a certain level, it sounds an alarm to tell the owner that it is full of bugs.
